The Chief of Misery
A quote by writer CS Lewis states that “the chief of all misery is pride.” we often hear the saying that misery loves company, and this is the ploy of the devil to get us to fall into agreement with the sin of offense that we walk in pride. Focus on the following scriptures to break the spirit of pride and walk in humility and love. Answer the following journal questions to guide you into a prayer or release from pride.
James 4:6
Jeremiah 9:23-24
1 John 2:16
Romans 11:18-20
Proverbs 15:25-33
Proverbs 19:11
Leviticus 19:18
Colossians 3:13

2. How much do I struggle with offense and not apologizing?
3. What are somethings I have said out of pride that I regret?

5. How does pride prevent me from hearing the voice of God?
6. Do I feel distant from God due to pride?

Prayer: Father God, in the name of Jesus, help me to build a character of love and humility because I do not want to walk in offense nor pride and I want to clearly hear your voice so that I will know your perfect will for my life. I come boldly to your thorn of grace and ask that you heal me from all self righteousness.
Amen
